I was delighted to be able to support green volunteers from across our ward this weekend as part of the Great British Spring Clean, an annual event from the Keep Britain Tidy charity.
Various groups in our ward took part in the event including the Friends of Heritage Green, The Friends of Jubilee Park and The Birtle Trust.
I had an early start with volunteers in the village tackling the Norden War Memorial Gardens, Edenfield Road, Moor Hill and the steps leading from Shaddock Avenue.
Later in the day, I joined up with members of the Birtle Trust on their clean up event which was also very well attended by local residents. I was able to assist members of the trust with a clean up along Church Lane.
Clean up events like these are always hard work but also very rewarding to see the ward looking so good afterwards. The best thing is to see the level of support that we have in the ward with so many like-minded people all willing to roll up their sleeves for the good of the community.
